Research aim
The study analyses the stressors, moderators and resources that parents and their families experienced, and on the practices and strategies they established in dealing with the Coronavirus crisis. The longitudinal research design allows to investigate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic over time.
Research method
Data collection started during the very first week of the Austrian-wide lockdown (16 March, 2020), with weekly resp. bi-weekly interviews until the end of June 2020. Since then data collection has taken place in larger intervals. In Juni 2022 the twelfth and last data collection took place.
The study consists of two methodical strands, both addressing parents of at least one kindergarten or school-aged child: (1) problem-centred individual interviews, conducted via telephone, and (2) diary entries, completed electronically by the respondents and submitted to the research team.
In total 727 interviews, 56 minutes on average, and 372 diary entries were collected. The respondance rate remained high (86%) at the twelfth and last wave of data collection. 33 interviewers were involved in collecting data.
